PCD Live: Your Mental Health

What's the talk about?

This presentation will review the common mental health issues related to PCD, tips for building resilience and coping strategies for both patients as well as caregivers of children with PCD and discuss wellness and protective factors. Tami and Dr. Griffiths will also share how to integrate mental health care in the PCD care model and the importance in assessing and supporting mental health in conjunction with PCD care.

 

Who is giving this talk?

Dr. Anne Griffiths is a paediatric pulmonologist with Children’s Respiratory & Critical Care Specialists and Children’s Minnesota. She is the medical director for the Children's Minnesota primary ciliary dyskinesia (PCD) clinical and research center, national accredited by the Primary Ciliary Dyskinesia Foundation.

Tami Vance received her Master’s in Social Work from New York University and has her clinical license with the Minnesota Board of Social Work. She works at Children’s Minnesota as the Cystic Fibrosis and Primary Ciliary Dyskinesia (PCD) social worker and mental health coordinator. Tami provides psychotherapy in the clinic and via tele-health and helps families navigate the resources to support their care and cope with chronic illness.
